Don't worry: the HTC One M9 might not look so boring after all

Recently leaked photos of the upcoming HTC One M9 (also known as the HTC Hima) have shown a device that looks very similar to the One M8, however it has now emerged that HTC may be tweaking the One M9's design after all.

This is good news if you were disappointed that the HTC One M9 was going to look almost identical to the HTC One M8 (which had a design that strongly resembled its predecessor, the HTC One).

It now appears that the One M9 will have a number of differences to the One M8's design, including a single lens in the rear of its unibody, unlike the two cameras of the One M8.

According to HTCSource, the final design of the front of the HTC One M9 will see the most differences between the design of the new handset and its predecessor.

About face

A source close to HTC has apparently revealed that the HTC One M9 will feature an edge-to-edge glass panel, with the front-facing BoomSound speakers being placed at the top and bottom edges.

It's claimed that the front-facing camera will be of a similar design to the one included with the HTC Desire 826, with a large camera positioned in the centre of the body above the screen.

We're not sure if the HTC One M9 will share not only the design of the HTC Desire 826's front-facing camera, but also the technology as well, with that handset coming with a four-UltraPixel front-facing camera.

So what about the previous photos of the HTC One M9 we've seen? Apparently they are real, but as we thought they are photos of a prototype version of the One M9, using a previous design that has now since changed.

It looks like the HTC One M9 will be getting a (slightly) new look after all. Hopefully we'll find out more at MWC 2015.
