As part of its first 2015 earnings report, Qualcomm suggested it has lost a big client, the most likely candidate being Samsung and its Galaxy S6 flagship.
Earnings calls can often be dry, boring affairs, but there was definitely some juice to Qualcomm's latest results.
As part of its financial statement, it said there were "expectations that our Snapdragon 810 processor will not be in the upcoming design cycle of a large customer's flagship device."
This statement was primarily there to account for a slight dip in future profit estimates, but it tells us a lot about a rumour that has been rolling around for a few days now.
Heard it through the grapevine
There were suggestions that Samsung was to drop the Snapdragon 810 CPU because it overheated during Samsung's tests.
While Qualcomm named no names in its statement, it seems likely it was talking about Samsung.
Instead, the Galaxy S6 is likely to use an Exynos processor. This is Samsung's own CPU series, used in some variants of Galaxy S5 last year.
Exynos chipsets haven't always offered performance and reliability on-par with a similarly-specced chipset from Qualcomm, but it must have a lot of confidence in this year's models.
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S6 at the MWC 2015 show this year, which takes place at the beginning of March.
