Banish those ads with Maxthon's latest update

Maxthon browser users sick of ads and pop-ups can now surf the web safe in the knowledge that they won't be bothered anymore, although that's relative.

A new version of the cloud browser comes complete with the popular AdBlock Plus extension already installed and ready to block any ads that come its ways.

The new version, which is predictably named Maxthon with AdBlock Plus, is ready for PC and Android users from the get-go with other versions in the pipeline.

AdBlock Plus is already available as an add-on for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome with 70 million downloads on those two platforms alone and it is the scourge of websites that rely on ad revenue.

Pay to slip through the net

AdBlock Plus has been shrouded in controversy recently after it was revealed that huge companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft have been paying sums of money to be put on the service's "acceptable ads" whitelist.

The list was devised to allow "non-intrusive" ads to slip through the AdBlock Plus net and is reportedly free for small businesses, whilst it charges the aforementioned larger businesses to escape being blocked.
