LG Watch Urbane announced to battle with the Apple Watch

LG has announced a brand new smartwatch - with the Korean giants set to launch its all-metal high-end LG Watch Urbane at MWC 2015.

LG has fought hard for a corner of the smartwatch market, with the LG G Watch R its most familiar offering, but the imminent arrival of the Apple Watch is set to change things.

But it is hoping that the Android-wear toting LG Watch Urbane can attract the premium watch market - or the "sophisticated and cosmopolitan" according to the release.

Round about

LG Watch - is this what you will look like?

The watch features a 1.3 inch full circle P-OLED as LG's Watch R did, but its predecessor was targeted at the active while this is squarely aimed at fashion.

The heart of the watch is its 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 chip, housed in a (still chunky) 10.9mm / 0.42 inch thick housing. There's 4GB of storage onboard and 512MB RAM.

The watch will come in gold or silver finish rather then being made of those particular metals and does offer up a heart rate monitor, presumably because the sophisticated and cosmopolitan need to watch their waists as well.
