Owners of Sony's current flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3, have been waiting patiently for the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop and it looks like the wait will finally be over next week.
According to both Sony Mobile Indonesia and Sony Mobile France, next week will see the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Xperia Z3 and will bring features such as lock screen notifications and the ability to install apps onto an SD card.
Both Sony outlets also mentioned Material Design, the new look that Google introduced with Lollipop. Sony's Xperia devices come with their own custom interfaces, so we can expect Sony to incorporate elements of Material Design into the user interface of the Xperia Z3.
A lollipop for the little brother?
There's been no mention about whether or not the Android 5.0 update will also be made available for the Xperia Z3 Compact next week, but due to the similarities between the two handsets we don't expect too much of a delay between the release of the updates.
It's also safe to assume that the Xperia Z3's successor, the Xperia Z4, will launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop when it is finally announced. Sony revealed the Xperia M4 Aqua at MWC 2015 which will also launch with Lollipop already installed.
