When HTC launched the HTC One M9 there was some complaining that it didn't do much to advance the phone from the previous, and much-loved HTC One M8 which preceded it.
And, while it's true to say that the One M9 isn't a huge advance from the M8, it still has a lot of great new features that make it very worthy of your consideration.

For example, the new camera has a 20-megapixel sensor, which offers much better image quality than the dual camera in the M8. There's also a new processor which offers lots more power and HTC is one of the few companies not turning its back on extra storage via microSD.

You get a phone for no up-front fee, but you are paying £36.00 per month. Even so, the package is good with unlimited calls and texts as well as an ample 2GB of data thrown in.

Again, we're sticking with a free handset here, but we've doubled your data allowance to 4GB. We honestly don't think you'll need more than 4GB, unless you're watching a lot of YouTube cat videos. If that's the case, you can get 5GB for a few quid more per month.

If you're after the cheapest lifetime cost of owning the M9, this is it. You have to pay nearly £290 for the handset, but the monthly costs are low at £21.99. The only real problem here is that you only get 500mb of data, which is nowhere near enough.

O2 is the network with extras, including the popular O2 Priority service

This is the best deal in the UK this month for an M9. The data allowance is reasonable, and of course everything else is unlmited. These days though, everything is about data especially with WhatsApp doing voice calls now.

It's expensive on a monthly basis, but the Carphone Warehouse deal means you get a massive lump of data, and unlimited everything else. The total cost though, over the contract term, is very nearly £1000.

Vodafone prides itself in coverage and quality, it's often a bit mean with data, but there are extras like Spotify and Sky Sports Mobile thrown in.

A pretty good deal from Vodafone has enough calls and texts for most people and enough data to get all but the heaviest users through the month. We don't advise video streaming on this tariff, but for general browsing it's fine.

Three is one of few providers that offers unlimited data, and Feel at Home is amazing for regular travellers.

Three deals on premium phones are often not the cheapest on the market. For many though the "Feel at Home" deal for free roaming is enough, as is the often unlimited data. Here though the cap is a restrictive 1GB, but there's no charge for the phone.
